18-2120 for 2011
Pantone recently announced the colo(u)r of the year for 2011 is Pantone 18-2120 Honeysuckle. Snoooooooozers. I’ve never been a fan of pink on men so this news makes my eyes glaze over with indifference. But is this color prediction accurate? Design circles and North America’s recent day-time talk show obsession with interior design seems to think so. The 111 chair, textiles, accent walls and even kitchens have showcased variations of honeysuckle. Keep your eye on it at this weekend’s Interior Design Show. IDS11 already has it on their website.
For those who aren’t familiar with honeysuckle, here are a few examples of it leaking into the men’s collections:
Long Fred Perry classic polo by Raf Simons.
Leopold Ripley cardigan.
Raf Simons high tops.
I’m such a hypocrite because I literally just ordered a honeysuckle oxford shirt during my online shopping
Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s ED explains, “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating colour that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues. Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother colour red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum… Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.”
Doesn’t that make you want to vomit in your own mouth? Pass me the Pepto.
