Miss Crowland

As some of you might know, I’m slowly redoing each room in my house because frankly, I have nothing else better to do. I’ve also been acquiring art on my furniture romps and am slowly creating a collection of prints, photographs, illustrations and sketches. I’d like to actually do some installation work myself on some of my walls but we’ll see since I am horrible when it comes to three-dimensional work.

But recently, I was scouring Etsy and I found this amazing designer/artist who does silhouette portraits. I instantly fell in love with the Lord of the Flies series so I immediately contacted Miss Crowland to purchase one. She happily put in my order but with a slight twist: she customized the piece with my own profile!

This is the second in my literary series of triptychs, based on the classic story Lord of the Flies, and includes 3 images. From left to right:
1. Ralph, the boy who represents our better nature (with a dove feather tucked behind his ear).
2. A quote from the book; “We’ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we’re not savages”, including a little conch shell graphic.
3. Jack, the boy who represents our dark nature (donning savage war paint).
